Crafty Update

Man, am I ever having so much fun with my knitting and crochet lately. Maybe a little too much!

I currently have 4 projects cast onto various knitting needles. I also intend to work on some Amigurumi this weekend. I really want to make some of the Roxycraft patterns I purchased - namely - her awesomely cute turtle guys. I might even be able to make a cute Christmas one! I am obsessed with holiday themes. I can see it now ... a cute green turtle, with a red shell, with maybe some little booties, and snowflakes embroidered on. Omg. CUTENESS OVERLOAD.

I really want to get my Endpaper Mitts finished though. I'm so proud of the progress I've made on it. I managed to squeeze my hand into it tonight and it fits! It was tight but I think it was mostly because I still had the needles on it. I mean, I could totally get some ease out of it still, so, it's not overly tight. And I don't see any horrible holes or ladders or anything. I love them. I will definitely be making about 5 million pairs to go with various outfits.

I also cast on for my Chevron Scarf using my Socks That Rock yarn. I adore this yarn. I'm definitely obsessed. It's sturdy, but not sticky (which I find Koigu to be - sturdy but it is sticky), soft but not fuzzy, and I haven't gotten ONE split. The colors are vibrant and amazing. Plus, I'm generally obsessed with sock yarn. So, I'm definitely splurging on that from now on when I need hand painted sock yarn. Koigu is nice and my LYS carries it, but I love the STR way more. Personal preference. I'm still going to make a Chevron Scarf from Koigu I have too, once I finish the first one.

Still on the needles are my Blue Sky Alpaca arm warmers and my Men's Cashmere Scarf (which is being made with Cascade 220, not cashmere, I wish!). The men's scarf (which is really for me) might get hibernated though. It's a very simple knit. It'd be an excellent on the road project. And I'm just not feeling the love for it anymore. Not when I have Chevron Scarves to make. So I might frog it too and use the Cascade for something more fun. That I can felt! I really like the pattern and I'm glad I worked on it but I just don't see myself wearing the scarf. Not out of Cascade. The Cascade is great don't get me wrong, but I prefer the sock yarn scarves to the worsted weight. I just do. So we'll see. The Alpaca project is totally still going to happen I'm loving those too, I'm just so overly excited about my Endpaper Mitts and doing some colorwork that I really want to finish those. Then I'll probably finish the Alpaca arm warmers. And the Chevron Scarf I work on when I'm winding down for the day or whatnot, 'cause it's pretty simple pattern wise and I don't have to follow a chart.

So, that's that! I am incredibly satisfied. I love my projects, I am having such a blast working on them, I can't wait to have finished objects to show off and wear, and I just ... I can't believe I let knitting and crochet slide the past year or so. It is SUCH a great stress relief. Yarn is Love. Seriously.

We Have A Pumpkin!

Another successful project! Go me! Not that this one took very long or was complex at all. Still, it's the perfect little pumpkin compliment to my Amigurumi turkey I made. Now that I see the two together I'm 100% sure I must make a set for my parents for Thanksgiving. Luckily, the entire set should take a day to make. The turkey is quick, as is the pumpkin, and since I'm not more practiced, I can probably fix the errors I made on the first ones so that they're even cuter for my parents! Yah!

Finally In Use!

I think I'm going to finally use this blog! I want to write about my crafting a lot and I don't think people who read my Livejournal (which I'm not linking here because I want to keep the entities separate) wouldn't appreciate the crafty babbling.

I started to reinvigorate myself with crafting thanks to Ravelry. I love that site. It's in beta right now but will go public and allow anyone to see the patterns, yarns, and projects available there. It truly is an excellent crafting resource. It's made knitting and crochet so much easier and more fun. I can easily organize projects I want to do, keep a tracking of all my yarn, and show off my stuff!

The only feature Ravelry doesn't have is one to babble about my crafting for those who want more detail than just "Look at this!" Thus, blog! Plus, I've been wanting to create separate blogs for tracking my progress in detail with running, which I started doing in June of this year, and a random place to write creatively if I get the urge. Livejournal is great and all, but I really use it to just keep up with friends and jot down the mundaneness of every day life. Having separate spaces to track the important hobbies and goals in my life will be useful to me.

So stay tuned for upcoming crafty goodness!
